Small project support

Do you have a smaller idea that you want to get started with quickly? Then small project support might be something for you. Contact us for questions and applications!

What is included and what is required?

We handle small project support at the office continuously, so you can quickly get started with your project. The project should be carried out in collaboration, using the Leader method, and it should aim for development.

You can apply for a maximum of 100,000 kronor in support for actual costs in the project.

The project may include costs for physical inventory up to a maximum of 30,000 kronor (24,000 kronor excluding VAT). Other eligible costs include lectures and workshops, consultants, rental or purchase of equipment and materials, marketing… yes, ”almost anything,” but no investments.

The application must be submitted to Leader before you can start the project, and support can only be granted to projects that would not be carried out without support.

The support from Leader should result in a finished outcome; you cannot apply for support for parts of an activity. The total value of the project may be a maximum of 100,000 kronor.

Note that the support is paid out against the reporting of paid costs, so you need to be able to cover expenses during the implementation. However, it is possible to partially report costs in the project to receive partial payments of the granted support.

You need to contribute your own voluntary work equivalent to the same amount you are seeking support for. Voluntary time is valued at 340 kronor per hour for individuals over 16 years old and 77 kronor per hour for young people between 13 and 15 years old. The voluntary time is your own contribution to the project; you will not receive compensation for your work.

There should be collaboration in the project, but it is sufficient that one association, network, or group of people collaborates in the project.

There needs to be a public benefit in the activity (it cannot only be about a company's or an association's own development), and there should also be a plan for sustainability in the project. Consider how the project will provide a lasting result.

Leader works for sustainable development. Project support is given to projects that consider and preferably also contribute to ecological, social, and economic sustainability.

The project should enable Leader Mälardalen to document during the project's course, as well as after the project's completion, to spread good examples. This can involve photos and videos. The project should also maintain its own documentation to be disseminated through its own channels, where Leader Mälardalen is mentioned in statements, tagging, and by using the Leader Mälardalen logo. Also, the EU flag with the text Co-financed by the European Union should be used when you publish information about the project.

Small project support for Participation, More Attractive and Smarter Rural Areas, Entrepreneurship and business and Preparedness co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

Small project support for preparedness

Associations, organizations, and networks that want to work with the preparedness issue are welcome to apply for support. It can, for example, be about strengthening your community around a common goal or identifying and equipping an existing meeting place. It can also be about wanting to increase your knowledge about crisis preparedness through education, lectures, or a workshop.

Small project support for more attractive and smarter rural areas

Will your idea contribute to making your place more attractive to live in and visit?

This includes place and rural development, development of open and inclusive meeting places, local events, local tourism, for example, based on nature and culture, local services, as well as initiatives that create a varied and meaningful leisure time. It can, for example, be about the development of swimming areas, piers, and walking paths, but it can also be about conducting a future workshop or equipping an existing place for preparedness purposes. Various events can also be supported.

The area of intervention also includes climate, energy, or environmentally sustainable projects. It can involve everything from workshops or seminars on, for example, sustainable sewage systems or recycling of clothes to various collaborative activities such as community beekeeping or solar energy production.

Small project support for participation

Within the support for participation are initiatives to improve social inclusion in the Leader area, that is, initiatives aimed at ensuring that everyone, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, disability, and so on, can participate in society on equal terms based on each person's conditions and to ensure that fewer people need to be in some form of exclusion.

Support can be provided for targeted initiatives for youth, investments for better mental public health, projects aimed at building networks, creating engagement and participation in local development, as well as projects for democracy development.

If you have a project idea that improves the conditions for participation, integration, equal treatment, and/or gender equality, this may be the support for you. The support can also include minor physical adaptations to accommodate disabled visitors.

Small project support for entrepreneurship and business

Perhaps you are a business network that wants to conduct a workshop or bring in a speaker to enhance your skills?

This support includes initiatives to promote innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship, and to encourage new forms of collaboration among entrepreneurs.

The purpose of the support is to facilitate for groups of people, businesses, and young entrepreneurs to develop their entrepreneurship and their ”can-do spirit.” The project idea needs to benefit more than just the individual business. The support should contribute to strengthening entrepreneurship and business.
