small project support for preparedness
With the project ”Ready in Mälardalen,” we want to increase knowledge about preparedness issues among residents within the Leader Mälardalen area. The project runs from March 2026 to December 2027.
Linked to the project is our support ”Small Project Support for Preparedness”
SMALL PROJECT SUPPORT FOR PREPAREDNESS
Associations and other organizations that want to work with preparedness issues are welcome to apply for support. It can, for example, be about strengthening your community around a common goal or identifying and equipping an existing meeting place. It can also be about wanting to increase your knowledge about crisis preparedness through education, lectures, or workshops.
We handle small project support at the office continuously, so you can quickly get started with your project.
ABOUT THE SUPPORT
You can apply for a maximum of 100,000 kronor in support for actual costs in the project.
The project can include costs for physical inventory up to a maximum of 30,000 kronor (24,000 kronor excluding VAT), but no investments. Other eligible costs include lectures and workshops, consultants, rental or purchase of equipment and materials, marketing... yes, ”almost anything.”.
The application must be submitted to Leader before you can start the project, and support can only be granted to projects that would not be carried out without support.
The support from Leader should provide a finished result, which means you cannot apply for support for parts of an activity. The total value of the project can be a maximum of 100,000 kronor.
NOTE that the support is paid out against the reporting of paid costs, so applicants need to be able to cover expenses during implementation. However, it is possible to partially report costs in the project to receive partial payments of the granted support.
You need to contribute with voluntary work equivalent to the same amount you are seeking support for. Voluntary time is valued at 340 kronor per hour for individuals over 16 years old and 77 kronor per hour for young people between 13 and 15 years old. Voluntary time can, for example, be participation in meetings, lectures, or other joint efforts in the project.
There should be collaboration in the project, but it is sufficient that one association, one network, or a group of people collaborates in the project.
There needs to be a public benefit in the activity (it cannot only be about a company's or an association's own development), and there should also be a plan for sustainability in the project. Consider how the project will provide a lasting result.
Leader works for sustainable development. Project support is given to projects that consider ecological, social, and economic sustainability.
The project should enable Leader Mälardalen to document during the project's course, as well as after the project's completion, to spread good examples. This can involve images and moving material. The project should also maintain its own documentation to be disseminated in its own channels, where Leader Mälardalen is mentioned in statements, tagging, or by using Leader Mälardalen's logo.
Small project support co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

A day for you who want to care for and restore your root cellar!
Kjell Gustafsson from Ängagärdet's nature and culture holds courses to teach and show how to proceed when wanting to make a cultural effort – renovate your root cellar.
The course begins with theory about different types of root cellars, how to renovate a root cellar, furnishings, and how different food items should be stored in a root cellar. A shared lunch and then a visit to root cellars in the local area to get tips on how to renovate these. The course is conducted for a full day by agreement. You can reach Kjell at kjell.gustafsson.46@gmail.com , 070-5861165.
Annette Westerberg, Breds Vreta Farm, www.vreta-gard.se Enköping runs a small farm outside Enköping with her husband. Sheep breeding and nature conservation are the foundation, but so is course activity. As a trained nature guide, accustomed to outdoor life and with a personal interest in self-sufficiency, as well as involvement in two voluntary defense organizations, Annette is also passionate about spreading knowledge about home preparedness.
One of the courses Annette offers through Vreta Gård is ”course in self-sufficiency and preparedness, a one-day course for women.” Courses can be tailored to the target group and also adjusted according to the season and interest. Small-scale cultivation, animals for household needs, outdoor techniques, cooking with a camping stove (sometimes fire) are included in the course. Other courses include, for example, sheep courses, chicken courses, and nature courses. Annette is also a trained instructor with the Civil Defense Association www.civil.se where you can book a course in, for example, home preparedness for a housing cooperative, a group of friends (free) or a company (quote). Within the Swedish Blue Star www.swedishblastingstar.com Annette holds lectures/courses on crisis preparedness for pet owners (horses, dogs, cats) (free). Lia Starälv held cooking courses for nine years in her restaurant with knowledge of how we can live on Swedish ingredients in a creative and flavorful way. Now she is a grower and runs Solkulla Matskog focusing on perennial vegetables, tree crops, and preparedness cultivation.
Lia offers workshops, consultations, and lectures with a lot of inspirational content. ”Living prepared without feeling like I am living in a time of preparedness is knowledge I convey.”
- Perennial vegetables, processing knowledge of Swedish ingredients such as pressure canning, leaching acorns, drying, and then how the products are used in the kitchen is my specialty.
